Finally I finished the little Cardigan for a wonderfull, soon to be one Girl. We wanted to give it to her as a birthday gift for her first birthday, together with some knitted socks and a little hat, that has to be knit yet. Hopefully this knitted goodies will help to keep the little girl warm during the cold seasons. Last week we met with a cousin of mine, who herself has a little girl. She told us, that she loves the knitted cardigan, that we gave her last winter and that it still sort of fits. (It becomes shorter and shorter as the girl grows.) The cardigan became one of the beloved pieces that is worn all the time. It makes me happy and proud that my cousin, her husband and the little girl love the piece so much that it’s worn that often.

The pattern, that I used to knit this cardigan, is from Drops Designs, it’s available for free in english. It’s also linked in Ravelry. If you didn’t know it, Ravelry is a knitting and crocheting community with tons of free and pay for patterns for literally everything, you possibly would want to knit. My account is here, if you befriend me, I can see what you have knitted! The pattern for this cardigan was intended to be knitted from down to the top, but I changed it, as I like to knit this kind of cardigans from the top down. It’s really easy to change, but if you have questions about how I made it, feel free to ask! I also like that kind of cardigans for babies and toddlers as they are seamless and have nothing that could hurt the baby.  The little elephant buttons were chosen from my button stash (yes, that is something that I have) by my wonderful fiancé. He chose the buttons in both colors and wanted them to be sewn on in changing color order. I like that aswell. The original cardigan intends it to have only three buttonholes, but I preferred to have some more to be sure that it stays close during the cold weather. Of course it would have been possible to make buttonholes up to the bottom. If you have any questions about how I made this, I will be happy to answer all of them in the comments below.

To knit this cardigan I used the interchangeable needles from KnitPro made out of wood. They also have those sets made of aluminum, carbon and plastic, but the wood one is the only one I ever touched. I bought it for me and my mom years ago (I gave it to her as a gift). When I got these I tossed and gave away all the other needles I had, because I needed this one set only – and some sock needles, but I have a wooden set of those too. But they also have a downside to them, that sometimes bothers me a lot. The wires that connect the needles are in the lilac version sometimes loose, but not on all of them. There are also black wires available that seem to be fine. Also there are problems with the screw part of the wires, some of them loosen during knitting and I have to fasten them every other row. There is also a problem with some of the needles (I have one of those) where the wood part and the metal part do not connect seamlessly. If I knit very fine yarns, they get stuck there. Nevertheless this knitting set is the one that I prefer to use always. Do you have experiences with this or similar sets? I’m very curious about your experiences as I would like to give a set to my sister for Christmas. She just started knitting and wants to be able to choose the needlesizes to fit her projects. So, please let me know!

Here are some photos of our morning walk today. I started an Instagram Account some days ago (click the button on the top right of the page for a link or search for missanthropie). Visit me there, if you are interested in more photos of Dante and his walks and some more random stuff that I do throughout the day. If you want to know about Dante and his history, I could write something about him aswell. His history is pretty interesting, even if we had him for a year only.

Habt einen tollen Tag! / Have a great day!
