Hallo liebe Leser.

Miss

English version.

Hello dear readers.

It was some time ago, that I read a blogpost of someone who was wondering about people sending out postcards. He understood, that it might be ok for some to send postcards from their vacation. But he was bewildered by the imagination, that people would send postcards without any reason. For me it was very interesting to read his post (that I couldn’t find again to link to, sorry) and that he even made a test run and sent out some. He didn’t get any in return. (He also wrote, that he never ever gets postcards!) It’s unrealistic, in my experience, to receive the same amount of postcards, as I’ve sent out. But there are quite a few, that I get. And there are many more that I send out. I think that postcards and letters are a very special form of communication. Sending out written words on paper shows the recipient how much the writer cares about him or her. Most of the time the writer doesn’t even expect something back. I myself send out quiet a lot of cards and letters, you can see the ones I’m sending out today in the photo above. I love to decorate the envelopes and choose beautiful post stamps for my cards. The post office in the rather small village I live in hasn’t much of a choice, so I order the most of my stamps online, where I can choose the motifs. 2017 was a year in remembrance of Martin Luther here in Germany as I’m currently writing my dissertation about the reformation, I bought some Luther stamps. So every envelope or card I use them one becomes some kind of an insider joke. (I love to send those out to historian friends.) I love it! Of course it’s not only handmade cards that I send out, as you can see. There are a lot of illustrations, that I just can’t go by without buying them as a card, because there is always THAT friend, who would LOVE that and I HAVE to send it to him or her. I generally had always a thing for beautiful papers, notebooks and pens. It’s not really hording, that I do, I use all of my beautiful paper stuff and I enjoy every second of it. By sending out some of this beauty, I hope to give others a moment of joy. And I get responses, not every time and not always of the same kind. Sometimes it’s just a SMS or an Email, but that’s enough and the responses are always positive. I also have to admit, that letters are a very intimate way of communication, at least for me. Postcards on the other way just show a glimpse of what is happening or troubling me. It can be a joke or a phrase I just heard or even just a piece of an extraordinary conversation, that I had or overheard. Everything I want to share, I can write down on those. It’s definitely a chosen lifestyle and I’m happy, that it becomes more and more popular, because I wouldn’t want to miss it.

Are you one of those people, who sends out cards? Do you receive them? Or are you one of those, who never gets any? And do you also have this passion for paper as I do? I’m so curious about that, leave your comments below, I would love to read them!

Take care,

Miss.
