You may ask yourself, why knitting socks means love to me. It’s actually quite easy. Socks made of wool are like hugs for feet. They keep the feet warm and cozy even during the coldest weather. It doesn’t even matter if the socks are for a baby, a child or a grown up, they make everyone feel good and cozy. I like it even more if the socks are hand knitted, but even the ones that were bought aren’t as bad, as the media shows it. We give and get socks for every Christmas. Traditionally it is my grandmother, who gave socks to everyone on Christmas – that means, untill I learned to knit.

To be honest, I started knitting about ten years ago when a good friend of mine became pregnant. I wanted to knit socks for this new little human and needed my mothers help to do so.  My mother is a wonderful knitter by the way, she can do anything. She taught knitting to me. First when I was seven, then again when I was about 20. I fought through the first pair of babysocks and it took me so long. They came out a little bit too big. From the rest I started to knit a pair for my grandmother (I have one, that doesn’t knit at all. That’s the one that gets a postcard per week from me for 14 years now). The socks were easy. Then, when I finished the ones for my grandmother, I needed some for my grandfather. I chose the yarn myself and knitted. That was the moment, when my passion was born. So I knitted socks for my mother, because I really love her, and my sister and her boyfriend for Christmas. Then I knitted a pair for myself (because I come always last). Then normal socks became too easy and I started to look for patterns online and knitted those. I knitted many socks for my grandmother, my sister, my mother, my fiancé and for every baby that was born since I started knitting. (Yep, every baby.) After the socks came cuffs and wristwarmers, mittens, little jackets for babies and toddlers, a jacket for me and a few shawls. It was very exiting to try out new patterns and new yarns.

Then I had a break from knitting and used my skills just for what I needed. Now I woke my passion for knitting again and am knitting one piece after the other. That is something you can see on the blog. I’m sorry, that I show the stuff I knitted to you, if you’re not interested in that. I knit because I love and this is what I want to share with the world.

The photos for this post show the last pair of socks, that I finished last week for my fiancé and the one that I started after.
