Hi,

Hi,

this time I have pretty unusual supplies, when it comes to me: brush pens. They come from a German company, but are made in China. They are water soluble. The set includes 24 brush pens, 5 stencils, 2 waterbrushes and 8 sheets of watercolour paper.

The watercolour paper is a rater bad quality and did stain, when I used the pens to swatch them. This did not happen on cotton watercolour paper, which i used later for the illustration itself.

There was a flat and a round brush included. The flad one was leaking a lot, but the round one was decent. Water brushes are not what I would choose for painting, but if you do, you could probably work with this one.

The stencils were not for me either. If anyone is interested in having them, send me an email or contact me in any way, that you want them and I’ll send them to you.

The reason to buy the brush pens, is because I intend to learn lettering. It looks so beautiful and is a form of art in itself. To try them out I used the only way, I know how though and it was to paint.

For the Illustration I chose a bird, that I liked and put it on a set of greenish-purple leaves. The colours dry back lighter, so i had to go back several times to deepen the colour. The pens also felt dryer on the cotton paper than on the other one, that I used to swatch them on.

In the video you can see how the pens behave on paper and what properties they have, that might be important to you:

Lana

In general I liked the pens and they will suit what I intend to do with them and they were fun to use. But I know, that they are not lightfast and therefore will not be included in the sunandcolors.com database.

I hope you found all the informations you looked for in the review and if not, you can always ask me about anything. It’s very important for me to share my knowledge and experience, so we all can improve as a community.

I wish you creativity and strenght in this difficult time. Stay healthy and wonderful!

Lana
