Greetings friends,

Test painting – Cotton plant

in the newest video I share my experiences with the Jaxon Aquarell Set by Honsell Art. The watercolours were tested by me for a few weeks now. As I wasn’t able to find any information on the binder and whether animal derived ingredients were used in the paints, I contacted the company and only received a flyer from their catalogue which does not answer the questions.

After unpacking the watercolour pans I recognized the unusual texture of the paint itself. It was one I have seen before in paints like Prima Marketing and the likes. When checking the colous I had from Prima I realized, there were the same pigment mixes in the colours and they’ve been indistinguishable when swatched side by side.

After realizing this, I was a little disappointed by Jaxon as I did expect to try something new and maybe make a new discovery and paints I can suggest to others. In the end I only can say, that the Jaxon watercolours work, but don’t have the artist quality that is promised on the box. For starters they are great though and will make learning possible. The only thing that still bothers me is the colour selection in the palettes. It’s better to put together your own palette instead of choosing of the preset Jaxon ones. Other companies do a better job when it comes to this.

More info and impressions you will find in the video.

Have a creative day!
