das wird jetzt spannend. Schmincke brachte im Januar ein neues Pigment auf den Markt, das so für Künstler weltweit nicht verfügbar war und von anderen Herstellern noch immer nicht verfügbar ist: YInTiCo.

Ich habe es mir natürlich gleich gekauft und ausgiebig getestet. Dazu gibt es natürlich auch ein Video, viele Scans, die in hoher Auflösung auf Patreon zu finden sind und eine kleine schriftliche Review hier mit allen Eigenschaften.
Eigenschaften von YInTiCo
Lichtechtheit: sehr gut (höchste Stufe)
Transparenz: semi opak
Fließfähigkeit: mäßig
Stain: nicht färbend
Granulation: stark granulierend
Komplementärfarbe: bläuliche Grüntöne z.B. Viridian, Hooker’s Grün, Perylene Grün

Zu teuer? Einfach mischen!
Man kann sich diesen Ton auch einfach mischen mithilfe von Chinacridon Magenta und Potters Pink mischen, dabei braucht ihr etwas mehr Potters Pink als Magenta. Potters Pink gibt dem Mix eine ähnliche Granulation, wie sie bei YInTiCo zu beobachten ist. Magenta verschiebt den Ton in das etwas knalligere Pink, das YInTiCo im Gegensatz zu Potters Pink hat. Dieser Mix kostet auch den Bruchteil des originalen Pigments.
Wenn ihr also mal ausprobieren wollt, ob die Farbe was für euch ist, dann wäre das vielleicht ein erster Ansatz zum Experimentieren.
Wird YInTiCo mal günstiger?
Nunja, das ist eine schwierige Frage. YInTiCo wie auch YInMn sind neue Pigmente und werden derzeit in kleinen Mengen hergestellt. Dadurch sind sie auch nur von wenigen Herstellern zu erhalten. Bei YInTiCo ist es derzeit nur Schmincke, demnächst aber eventuell auch sogenannte Paint Maker, die Aquarellfarben von Hand herstellen.
Solange die Produktionsmenge des Pigmentes klein bleibt, wird es vermutlich noch teuer bleiben und als limitierte Edition vorhanden sein.
Wie wir wissen, kann es jedoch sein, dass wenn es sich gut verkauft, es auch in die Reihe eingefügt wird, wie Schmincke dies z.B. mit den supergranulierenden Farbtönen gemacht hat.

today is going to be exciting. Schmincke has released a new pigment in January, which was not accessible for artists worldwide until then and is not made by any other company (yet?): YInTiCo.
You can purchase it on Amazon or Jackson’s (affiliate links).
Of course I have purchased it rightaway and tested YinTiCo thoroughly. In the video you can see many scans and you can take a closer look on Patreon too, where you’ll also find a short written Review and first impressions.
Properties of YinTiCo
Lightfastness: very good
Transparency: semi opaque
Dispersion: not very good
Staining: not staining
Granulation: heavy granulation
Compemetaries (neutralised by): bluish greens like Viridian, Hooker’s Green or Perylene Green

Too expensive? Just mix yourself!
This pigment is pretty pricy, But you can mix a hue yourself from pigments you may already own.
What you need is Potters Pink and Quinacridone Magenta. For the mix you need only a little Magenta added to the Potters Pink. The YinTiCo hue you’ve created will also have granulation which is provided by the Potters Pink. Magenta shifts Potters Pink into a more vibrant tone, which will look just like YInTiCo.
Both colors and pigments are widely available by many brands and will cost considerably less than YinTiCo currently does.
Mixing could also be a first step to explore the color and see if it fits your needs and style.
Will YInTiCo be less expensive anytime soon?
Well, that’s a complicated question. YInTiCo as well as YInMn are new pigments made from rare metals. It’s produced only in small amounts currently. That’s why you can get both from a few companies only. YInTiCo is so far only available from Schmincke. Soon it might be available from small paint makers too, who use to make paint by hand.
As long as the production of this pigment stays small, it is most likely that it will stay expensive and be available as a limited edition only.
But as we all know, Schmincke did add some limited edition colors to their regular range in the past and it might happen to YInTiCo too. We just can’t forsee it now.
