Hello wonderful people,
a new time is coming. The channel, that started from a hobby and the urge to share my art and how it is created, is growing bigger and bigger. In the last almost three years I included reviews, tests and the creation of the watercolour database sunandcolors, which grew into a project of passion for my parther and I. (And I know for sure for some of you too!)
Now the channel has reached 1000 subs and we have to celebrate this accordingly! For me it is uncomprehensible, that it is actually true. In the beginning I was unsure if I ever will reach 10 subs! Your visits are a huge honour and make me incredibly happy to share more of my art and knowledge about art with you.
To celebrate this with you, I have prepared a giveaway. The rules and what you need to do is mentioned down below. đ
The giveaway is ending on August 22nd 2020, Midnight Central European time! (Giveaway has ended!)
But first I want to show you, what you can win in this giveaway:
Nr. 1: Earth Colours Set
The first set you can win includes a handmade sketchbook made from quality watercolor paper that is 100% cotton, that I love to use myself. It’s 15,5 by 13,5cm in size. You will also receive a synthetic brush nr. 7 for watercolours, a full set of erasable coloured pencils by Staedler and a mini limited palette with 4 full half pans of Lukas Aquarell 1862 watercolors, which are artist quality. The colors included in this set are: Green Yellow PY129, English Red Deep PR101, Burnt Umber PY155, PR176, PBk7, Indigo PR176, PB15:1, PBk7.
Swatches Earth Colours Set Mixing Chart Earth Colours Set
This set is called earthy, because it’s easy to mix moody earthy tones with it, that bring granulation with them. The colour mixes are shown in the mixing chart on the left.
Nr. 2: Stellar Colours Set

The Stellar Colours Set also includes a handmade sketchbook of the same size and is made from the same kind of watercolour paper (100% cotton) for the pages. Only the covers are different to fit the theme of the set. Also included is a full set of erasable coloured pencils by Staedler and a synthetic brush nr. 7. There is also a mini limited palette coming with this set of Lukas Aquarell 1862 watercolors. The colors in the Stellar Colours Set are: Lemon Yellow PY3, Ruby Red PR176, PV23, Cobalt Turquoise PB28, Indigo PR176, PB15:1, PBk7.
This set is created from primary colours, that can be used to mix bright secondary colours, and a Indigo colour, that adds the moodyness, that some might like and depth for juicy values.

Hey first comment! I think I would have to use the earth tones to concentrate on natural subjects, like the mushroom you did! And I also love to make starry/cosmic art so the indigo and the other colours look beautiful. The sketchbooks are so lovely I think I’d have to devote them entirely to the categories! I don’t think I could decide between them đ
Hi! That I would love to see! Good Luck! đ
What wonderful sketchbooks and curated palettes! I love earth colors and that set would be great to further explore my neighborhood which overlooks a railyard. I’ve been taking photos and making sketches of the trains and PR101 is the base color of many train cars, while the green gold and burnt umber are perfect for the dry August foliage in the background and indigo and green gold would mix to paint the well worn green of the service buildings. If I won the stellar colors, I would walk up the hill behind my home and paint the children playing in the yards of their brightly painted homes.
Thank you for your wonderful channel and your generous and personal giveaway gifts. Take care!
Hi! Your place sounds like a wonderful place to live and paint. I hope I can see some of your paintings one day. Good luck!
I would love the earth set and sketchbook as an plein air kit. I never paint outside the home and having a dedicated set would inspire me to give it a try!
That sounds like a great goal! I hope you will find courage to try and paint outside soon and the right materials too. Good luck!
Hello, This giveaway is amazing! I would use either set to paint my emotions as I go through a divorce. I am also going to deal with my PTSD and this will help to paint my feelings as I undergo treatment for that. Congratulations on a thousand subscribers!
Hi Diane, thank you! This seems like a heavy subject to paint, I hope art helps you through and soothes the soul. I wish you luck and strenght on your journey!
Congratulations for 1000 subs, its such a great milestone. I love the honesty you give to your reviews. I also enjoy you of paint what you enjoy. Thanks for the great content look forward to what is next post. Be safe, cheers from “downunder” Australia
Thank you so much Lyndal. To be honest is very important to me, when I don’t enjoy something but claim I do, people might buy a product, that is bad. I don’t want to be the cause for people to loose money on low quality products. Have a great day!
I’m so excited and proud of you Lana! This achievement is so well deserved and I’m so happy that you hit 1k. I’m curious to see what the next 3 years and beyond will bring you on your artistic journey đ
Thank you so much Maryam đ
KOMMENTAR
I would love the stellar set to use as a small travel kit. It is a very interesting primary set and I would love too see the colors I could create with it. The inclusion of indigo rather than a black or other neutral is especially exciting.
I also have never tried they brand of watercolors and have been looking for a nice 100% cotton sketchbook, so this set would be perfect.
Thanks for doing this!
Hi Ellie, I’m very excited to see, what mixes you would create too! Cotton watercolour paper is indeed so nice to use and rarely found in sketchbooks. Good luck! I hope you can experience it. đ
Hi. I’d like to participate simply because it would make me feel happy to win the earth color set. Thank you by the way for your videos about the super granulating colors from Schmincke. Kind regards from Belgium. Fingers crossed.
Hi Cedric, thank you very much! I’m glad you enjoyed the videos and good luck for the giveaway. đ
What a wonderful collection you’re giving away. Of course I love everything spacey so I have my eye on the space packet you put together! You are inspiring me to get a binding machine to make my own watercolor sketchbooks–because yours look more lovely than anything we can buy! Good luck to all the participants!
Awww Jen, you are so kind! I hope you can test these out and play around with them a little. đ
Good luck!
Congratulations! I would love to use either set to make abstract paintings with. I love watching the way watercolor moves on paper, and the ways the colors interact.
That sounds exciting! I struggle with abstracts, but I would love to see, what abstracts you could do with the sets. Good luck!
Congrats again on 1K subs! I love how you put in so much time and love into these sets. The sketchbooks must have taken a lot of time. I think it’s very touching that you’ve made your giveaway handmade. Let’s see, if I received either one of the sets, I’d hug the sketchbook first because I just love spiral bound and because it’s so difficult to find, I must show it lots of love by using it dearly! The erasable pencils will be such a joy to work with since I’ve always wanted to use colour pencils but I make too many mistakes, lol. The synthetic brush would be a great suit since I’m not delicate enough with my brushes to get real hair so synthetic is best. Lastly, the stellar colours set … omg.. OMG… soooo beautiful!!! Gorgeous cool palette~ I love the bright palette with the dark indigo to cut the brightness. I’d love to use this to explore more on limited palettes and continue to paint vibrant illustrative architectural paintings. As for the earth colours set, I haven’t been so keen on earths but recently welcomed a burnt umber onto my palette. Your earth colours set would help me discover and explore the beauty of earth colours. Whoever has the pleasure to receive these sets must be over the moon. Good luck to all!
Thank you Vee! Well, I hope you are lucky and can have a sketchbook to hug and play around with soon. đ Your plans on using the palettes are so elaborate. Limited palettes are indeed great to play with and explore subjects, lights and of course mixes. Good luck!
Congrats to 1000 subs! How exiting!
I love both of the sets but I think I like the earth set a bit better. I enjoy painting animals and nature and this set would be perfect on the go.
I am so glad I discovered your channel recently and I look forward to many more videos.
Take care.
Hi Silke, I’m glad you found the right place and join in. đ The Earth colours would be great to paint animals indeed! Good luck!
Congratulations Lana! You really deserve it and more with all the work that you’ve put into the art community from not only your videos but your lightfastness database. I think the earth tones set would suit me best – I’m currently in progress of moving from my parents farm to the city to be closer to the hospital for work and would love to have some of the nature to remind me of home too. Not to mention that it’s somewhat chilly at the moment too so it’s the perfect weather to use those colours to paint my surroundings đ
Hi Faye! Great to see you, you’ve been with me on this journey for so long too! Nature is a great thing to paint and the Earth Colours would be great to do so indeed. Good luck!
Hi Lana, congrats on this milestone.
With the earthy set, I would paint the countryside and forests I miss so much and with the stellar one, I would paint the beach and see scenes that I’ll quit in few months.
Thank you very much for the opportunity.
See you soon.
Thank you very much Edwige! These are very pretty things to paint. đ Good luck to you!
Congratulations! I love the stellar colors. I would use them to paint images to scan in and use for a video game I’m designing. I would use the earth tones to paint a the park and little footbridge near my house. Thank you for the giveaway!
Hi Beth! This sounds exciting! You’re making a video game with traditionally painted images? That sounds like something I totally would play! Please keep me updated on this project. Good luck with the giveaway! đ
Hi Lana,
Congrats on getting over a 1000 subs on your youtube channel. I love both the sets you curated. The earth tones would be perfect to capture the Irish landschapes and the stellar colours would be great for almost everything else. It must have been so hard to curate a set of just 4 colours. I have heard about the erasable pencils but haven’t tried them yet. They could come in handy for some first sketches, I am using watersoluble pencils for that, and there are pro’s and con’s :). Thanks you again for the chance to win. Susan
Hi Susan! The Irish landscapes are something I would love to see being painted with those colours! It took indeed some time to decide what the sets could look like, which colours to choose to go into the sets, how big to make the sets and also what paper to use, to the covers go with the sets. đ I was preparing for over a month actually and it’s exciting, that it’s now time to share those goodies.
Good luck for the giveaway!
Congratz! I like both sets, it is hard to choose between two stunning color selections. I would use earth set to paint vintage looking botanical painting for hang in my livingroom. I recently got really pretty antique writing desk and earthy colors would nicely compliment that đ
Cyane, that sounds pretty! I didn’t think about vintage botanicals, but I can see, how this would be pretty. Good luck for the giveaway! đ
Heyyy!
This is almost the only way to get me to a blog, lol!
Congratulations on your first 1000 subs, lovely Lana! I hope you, your partner and Dante are all doing well.
Hugs and I love those handmade sketchbooks!
Hi Lise, thank you a lot! đ We are doing well and hanging around the ac as a family right now. đ
If I ever will win a giveaway in my life, I hope it’ll be this one! I watch a lot of watercolor video and I would use this materials to try by myself.
Congratulations on one thousand subscribers!
Hi Marina, thanks for your comment. I hope you enjoy all the watercolour videos and get the chance to try them out and experiment a little! đ Good luck!
I want to have one of your giveaway it’s because its so memorable receive a gift from it make me feel special watching your Vlogs
Hi! Thanks for joining! That is an honour if you feel that way. Good luck đ
Congrats on 1K subs Lana. đ I would use either of the sets in doing some watercolor illustrations of my characters, which I haven’t named yet. I would also love to use them to create some fanart of my favorite shows. The colors on both sets are lovely and I love the theme of the sketchbooks. Thanks for holding this giveaway and good luck to everyone.
Hi Dora, these are wonderful subjects to paint! I also hope your characters will be named one day. đ Good luck!
Thank you â¤ď¸
Hi đ¤ I just started painting last November and just became consistent this July…. Painting became my quarantine passion and painting everyday for me is so fun. This became my escape from stress and anxiety, so If I win I would love to use the set to have fun and improve my painting skills more. Thank you for this giveaway đđ
Hi Aya, I hope you’ll improve your painting skills even more! Good luck!
Hi Lana, I really don’t expect to win but since I have absolutely no paints by Lukas and I’m intrigued by the PY129 I’m giving this a try. As I commented on youtube, it’s a wonderful giveaway. What exactly I would paint… honestly… the whole covid-situation had me paralysed these past weeks, just really feeling down and inert. Self-isolating not because I’m ill but because I can’t take the stress, the feeling of loss of freedom… anymore. (Belgium is not in a very good situation at this moment, happily I live in a low contaminated area… but rules are pretty general). So I couldn’t tell you what I will paint.
Anyway, I wish a many many more subscribers. I still can’t follow you on Instagram (cannot go beyond the ‘you must be older than 16’ warning – hopefully next Saturday đ )
Hi Heidi! Sorry the lockdown is so stressful for you, the world is in a unique situation right now and I hope we all get this under control soon, before the cold weather makes spreading even easier and we’re back to more strict rules. I also hope that art can help you feel a little less like a captive in your own home and helps you to relax.
Thank you for the well wishes. I’ve heard a few times about the “must be older than 16” warning, but I don’t know why this happens. Others seem to be able to follow me without any problems. I’ll try to figure this out. đ
As I don’t know who is going to win, I can only say, that I wish you good luck!
I’d like to use the stellar set to make paintings outdoors, I’m not usually good at that but they are packaged so nicely I think this might inspire me to do that. đ
Hi Ella! I hope you get the chance to paint outside then. đ Good luck!
Hello!
Congratulation on 1000 subs!
First of all, I wanted to thank you for your database,it has help me a lot in different occasion!
I love the two palette you have curated. I would love to use the earth tones one for urban sketching. I have just started to get into it and I think that those colors would be perfect. The galaxy set would be great for more cartoonish drawings I think and I really love the cover of the galaxy sketchbook!
Also, I was wondering what paper did you use for the sketchbook? I am curious!
Thank again for everything you’re doing!
Agnès
Hi Agnès, thank you so much! I’m glad the database is helpful and I’m glad to say, that it will grow quiet a bit in the next months. đ (Soon new tests will be finished and added!)
Urban sketching is fun indeed, I hope you’ll find pretty places to sketch and exciting scenes too! Do you do cartoonish drawings?
About the papers: I’ve bought patterned papers in sheets from a craft shop and I’m not sure what companies those were. Sorry. The sheets were double sided. The leftovers were used for the inside pieces of the covers.
Good luck with the giveaway!
If i get Earth tones set i will use it for landscapes and portraits. I like its natural colors, i think this palette is pretty useful for painting trees or forest fairies. Congrutalation on 1000 subs, your channel is developing and you are gonna have much more fans soon!
Hi and thank you! I too hope that many find my channel interesting and helpful. đ I would love to see portraits painted with the Earth Colours. Good luck for the giveaway!
Aww, Lana, the giveaway prizes are amazing! Iâd like to use the set to sit up in bed and do some no-pressure painting. I would think of you every time. đĽ°
That sounds so relaxing Joy! No-pressure paintings are the best way to go. đ Good luck my friend!
Congratulations on your 1000 subscribers!! You deserve every single one of them.
And what a lovely giveaway idea! I’d love either set, really, but my heart always leans towards a good primary trio – I love using weird, bright colours in non-traditional ways, especially in landscapes, and mixing is so much fun with a good CMYK-esque palette. The earthy palette looks like it’ll be beautiful for fall and winter, though, I’m sure they’ll both bring a lot of joy to the lucky winners â¤ď¸
Hi Joy! Oh yes, the Primary+ set is very versatile. (Though my favourite are the Earth Colours…) đ Good luck to you!
Hi Lana, congrats on the 1k subs! Now itâs time to rewatch allllll the videos đ. Awesome giveaway. Iâve never tried Lucas paints so the primary set would be my pick. Even though the earth colors look amazing too, Iâd love to paint some animal portraits and refresh my mixing knowledge at the same time. The sketchbook looks like a good place to practise that without too much pressure.
Good luck to all!
Hi Michelle! Well if you are going to rewatch all the videos, this will take some serious time! đ Thanks for the wishes, I hope to see your animal portraits. (Maybe tag me on Instagram? ;)) Good luck! The winners will be picked tonight!
